Floating Markets

This morning we travelled by boat to the floating markets. The market boats have long poles with whatever they are selling at the very top. Advertising in its simplist form.  The sellers travel from nearby provinces to sell their food staying as long as it takes before retuning home to fill their boat again.  Each boat has a registration made up of 2 letters and several numbers to say where they are from.

Other locals in smaller boats travel from one tourist boat to the next selling drinks. A factory to make rice noodles was our next stop. The rice is mixed with tapioca flour and cooked and dried before being cut into noodles.

We then visited a fruit farm, students tried the monkey bridge and then we had some mango, paw paw and dragon fruit with green tea for our morning tea.

After checking out of the hotel we visited an Ancient house which had furniture and pottery that was over 300 years old. It was very beautiful inside with decorative wood carving and pearl inlay on the supporting beams and georgeous floor tiles.

Our stay in Can Tho ended with lunch at a French Vietnamese styled restaurant which was voted 'best food so far'!  The trip back to My Tho took around 3 hours due to traffic and road works. Tonight we are attending Mass at the main Catherdral in My Tho before grabbing burgers on the way home. Back to work tomorrow!
