Projects started

Day one was started with a welcome from all the government official involved in the house building project.  After speeches from everyone - thank you An for translating for Mr McDonald, he really impressed the local with his language skills- we set about mixing concrete to concrete the floor,  No concrete mixer to use so it was done the old fashioned way on the ground mixing first the sand and concrete then adding rocks for stability.  We then had to carry the concrete into the house site and level the floor/concrete out with a piece of wood.   Fantastic effort from everyone, with an exceptional effort from Scott, Lucy and Phoebe.

After work we hurried home for showers - concrete was over everyone and headed to the school for lunch.  We had Vietnamese fried chicken which is a favouite and KFC could learn from the Sisters cooking this, french fries and pumpkin soup (not blended though), vegetables and watermelon and bananas.  Tonight we are heading to the burger joint for some western food.

The Audiologists, Emma and Caroline have been testing the students at the school to see if the hearing aids we bought with us will assist them, unfortunately many are profoundly deaf so there is nothing they can do to help them hear.

After lunch we were split into 3 groups and were sent to different rooms to play and interact with the children, many remember us from last year and were very happy to have us there.  The playground that we did a fundraising dance for last year is completed and after school all students had a fast and furious game of football.
